KMVT - Connecting the Community

How to Become a Community Producer

1. Read the following Restructured Access Fees and Policies (May 2005)

2. Complete the necessary workshops

3. Volunteer on two productions

4. Meet with the Community Access Director

To qualify as a KMVT Community Access Producer, you must become a member by paying the Access User Fees and complete the appropriate training courses. If you are producing a studio show, take the Studio Production workshop. If you are planning to shoot outside of the studio, take the Camcorder and Editing workshops.

Upon becoming a member you will receive an access card. Bring the card with you whenever you come to KMVT. The completion of courses and access card qualifies you to crew on staff or access productions. You must crew on a least two shows before starting your own show.

After you have crewed on two shows, set up an appointment with the Community Access Director to discuss your idea. You should have a clear idea of what you want to do, and a working script outline or treatment to show the Community Access Director.

After the Community Access Director approves your project, you may start checking out equipment, booking studio time, and recruiting crew from the KMVT crew database.
