KMVT Web Development Internship

KMVT Community TV is now accepting applications for one (1) web development intern.

KMVT is currently seeking a bright, driven and communicative WEB DEVELOPMENT intern to begin revamping our existing static website into a more dynamic website that can engage, and be useful to, our local community.

You will work closely with staff to begin the following:

• Design and develop a dynamic and easy-to-use website
• Expand our video-on-demand service to view our television programming online
• Build our local video community via video blogging for sharing of video content and discussion forums, with additional ability to search using tags
• Implement a search feature
• Implement a dynamic, searchable Program Guide with user logins to manage content
• Implement a check-in/ check-out system for equipment usage
• Implement user logins for viewing of user-specific information

Required Skills and Experience:

• Desire and ability to learn about and to research new trends in web technologies
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript & CSS and front-end interface development
• Experience/familiarity with a server scripting technology, such as PHP, Python, or JSP
• Familiarity with dynamic integration with database
• Interest in building community on the web
• Reliability and flexibility
• Attention to detail

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Understanding of web standards and ability to optimize for cross-browser/platforms
• Awareness of website continuity and consistency
• Sense of time-management and project development approach
• Knowledge of Flash, Photoshop and/or ActionScript
• Experience implementing or creating user forums
• Strong communication, team-building and time management skills

Commitment

We need you to be able to commit to a minimum of 120 hours, or 10 hours/week, flexible dates, and to be able to work at least once a week at our location in Mountain View. The duration of the internship is about 3-4 months.

Compensation

Internships are unpaid. As an intern you will have access to all of our video production training courses, with the ability to produce your own television or web show.
