Every year, KMVT offers summer internships that combine teaching and Media Production! Interns will learn the skills in Animation Production through assisting our veteran instructors in our summer Claymation Middle School Camps! Apply to teach Claymation. Interns do not need to come with any prior knowledge of animation or editing. You will learn it on the go! However, knowledge of editing is a plus, and you must demonstrate strong interest in the subject matter.
High School and College students are encouraged to apply!
Camps run from June 13th through August 19, 2011 from 10:00 – 4:00PM. Interns must be available for a one-day training/set-up prior to camp start date. Hours are 9:30AM – 4:00PM, with an extended late evening on Thursdays to complete student final DVDs before Friday. Interns who can commit to the entire 9 weeks will be given greater consideration. All applicants are asked to commit a minimum of 5 weeks, 7-hours each day. All interns will receive a gas/travel stipend of $65/week.
During the first week of a course, you will be in training mode. During the 2nd and 3rd weeks, you will act as a teaching assistant. By the end of your Claymation internship, you will have knowledge of the entire animation process, from molding clay characters to operating cameras to capture stop motion animation, and editing the final video. It’s optional to air your own Claymation on KMVT during prime time in the month of September.
Your weekly schedule will look something like this:
Monday 9:30 - 4 – Assist with introductory exercises, activities, brainstorming and concepts.
Tuesday 9:30 - 4 – Assist instructor as students start creating their final projects.
Wednesday 9:30 - 4 - Help students as they continue with their final projects. Begin edit of students' final projects.
Thursday 9:30 - 6 - Edit together students’ final projects
Friday 9:30 - 4 – Lead students in an alternate activity. Enjoy the final screening of student videos!
