We are the Voice of the Community!
KMVT 15 Silicon Valley Community Media & Television is YOUR local TV station and voice. For over 30 years, KMVT 15 has been a profoundly cherished institution, providing training in video production and media literacy and a voice for hundreds of thousands of San Francisco Bay area residents as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We aim to provide media literacy education, hands-on training, and civic engagement. We serve as a resource to narrow the digital divide through technology and provide the community with the tools to create media and utilize technology in a socially responsible manner.
Community Interaction
Community Television is for the people by the people. Shows are created by the public and aired on our public channel 15. This is the people's channel. The content is NOT filtered, censored. Shows will not be aired if it is slanderous, libelous, obscene or calls for a violent action.
As a local media center we provide access to cameras, computers and software that would otherwise be out of reach for the average person. We provide training and advice for all formats of media including photography, social media, editing, visual effects, video blogging, etc. You can also request specific training.
KMVT 15 programs and manages the local Government Access channels for Mountain View (ch.26), Los Altos (ch.26), and Sunnyvale (ch.15). The channels provide video coverage of City Council, Planning Commission and other local government programming and city information.
We provide professional training on all of our equipment and software. We offer introductory all the way up to master level workshops. All skill sets are welcome. We provide over 75 workshops a year that range from Digital literacy, hands on video production training - learn how to use every aspect of a television studio, produce a show, photography, social media, podcasting and video blogging, guest lectures and so much more.
